No pictures yet.

Well, Christmas is over and am I glad! A. came over on Christmas eve and Christmas Day and we ate, watched movies, ate, watched the Spurs lose to the Pistons-ggggggggggrrrrrrrrrrrr, ate, took a nap, ate, knitted,ate...well, you get the point. Lots of eating going on. I am working on a hat for m. Another of the rolled brim hats but a thicker yarn this time as she wants one that is really warm. Lion Brand Jiffy Thick and Quick in the color Smoky Mountains. Fancy, eh? lol. About half-way through so I should be able to finish it pretty fast.

"The carrier" is coming tomorrow-*groaning*. She was such a pain when they came for lunch on the 26th that I was glad we didn't have to see her anytime soon. But she needs a babysitter tomorrow so ...lucky us.

Took some pictures of knitted stuff but have to wait for them to be sent to me and then I will post them.

OOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHH I almost forgot!! My Harney tea order came today. Many happy dances through the kitchen. www.harney.com The best tea ever!!

More pictures coming soon.

The digital camera will be here for Christmas so I will have some pictures soon. A. and I went to the lys and got some yarn. Oooooooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhh so pretty. She got another skein of the Cherry Hill yarn to make sure we have enough for whatever pattern she picks for her shawl. And a few other goodies.

The zig-zag raglan sweater for Ad. is moving right along. I hestiated to knit on it because I had never done a placket. Not to mention knitting a pattern like that...16 row repeat. It really isn't hard but I have to pay attention since there are stitch markers, stitch holders.... But I'm pleased with it so far. Hopefully he will like it also.

Should be able to get alot of knitting done over the next 2 days. Except when the Spurs game is on. Yah!!! Haven't seen any basketball this season so really looking forward to it. And then a Lakers-Heat game. My b-ball watching overfloweth, lol.

Merry Christmas everyone!

Annoying

I do hate when I write a post and then I get knocked off line before it gets a chance to be saved. I finally finished the scarf that I was making for A.'s friend. I used Wool-Ease Thick and Chunky in black and made a hat to match. It was a little wider than I had intended but by the time I decided it was a little too wide I had so much done that I did not want to pull it out and start again. It will be wide enough to double over so that will be okay. Ad.'s sweater is moving along so hopefully I will have that done soon. I went to my lys the other day and A. bought some bee-u-ti-ful yarn...Cherry Hill Yarns "Melange". The color is called "Nothern Lights" and it is stunning. She wants a wrap or a shawl from it but hasn't decided what pattern she likes. She is planning to have it for years so she wants a very special pattern.

I wrapped all the Christmas presents today and to celebrate I opened the kona coffee that I was given this year as a present. Nasty!! I've had plenty of Kona before but this was not it. Had to dump the whole pot and threw out the bag. Yuck, phew, yuck. Very disappointing. Didn't even get to Starbucks last night as the traffic was soooooooooo bad not too mention the COLD!! And was it cold. Ended up being about 9 degrees out so much too cold to venture out. So knitting did I do. And today and tomorrow. Knit, knit, knit.

I need at least 8 more hands to get everything finished that everyone wants knitted. A. says she needs to get a whip so they can make me knit faster. Or I need to knit a whip.lol. I am making another hat, this time for a friend of A.'s. She would like to give it to him on Christmas as that is also his birthday. I can finish the hat and hopefully the scarf that she wants also. I am using black Wool-ease Thick and Chunky. It knits up pretty fast so maybe I can finish this soon and finish the sweater for Ad. after that. Sooner or later I will be able to make something for myself. I would like to get all this done first though.

SNOW!!!

I am surprised that the "albino brain suckers" actually appeared. The weather people made such a stink about the big snow storm coming that I just knew they would be wrong. If  only I could shovel the driveway while knitting. On the upside, I finished my hat last night. I have made several but the ones that I have made for myself are too big. But not this one. I raided my stash for a skein of really cool yarn that I had gotten this summer at Lambikins and it made a bee-u-ti-ful hat. I love it. It is Reynolds Smile and it is lovely. Time to shovel.

Stupid poncho.

I am going to finish this stupid pocho for C. even though she will not call me and tell me how long to make it. Since I made her another just like it but in pink not black, I made the first one about 341/2 inches and she said it's too long. I have asked her several times to measure the old one and tell me how much shorter she wants it. But nnnnnnnnoooo, I just can't get an answer. So I am going to make an executive decision and knit it 28 inches and too bad for her. And no fringe...woohoo. I'm sick of looking at it so it will be a relief to finish it. It's boring to work on, black acrylic and Modea Dea Dream in black done in garter stitch...zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. But I can watch my knitting dvd's while knitting so there's an upside.

Yesterday I went to the new lys to get a pair of Addi Turbos (LOVE them). I went in with blinders on 'cause I only had a few minutes. I don't understand how a yarn shop cannot have white yarn. What's up with that?  They have a knitting group that meets every Monday during the day, which will be nice since the group at the library doesn't meet until January. And also the first Wednesday evening of the month which (gasp) is tomorrow! What a coincidence...heehee. Of course, it's ssssssssssoooooooooo cold that I might not go out at all tomorrow. The high will be 23 degrees which is just wrong. And cold. But good knitting weather.

Knitting frenzy

Well, I just got back from Hobby Lobby where I returned the knitting machine. I was ambivalent about it to begin with but once I started reading the direction book and looking through it I decided it was more trouble than it was worth. So back it went but got a really cool knitting bag so it's all good.

Too tired to knit

Spent most of today (after working) running errands and geeze, I'm tired. Sssshhhh, I'm too tired to knit. Today m. bought me a knitting machine for Christmas but haven't really decided what I think about that. Seems kind of like the easy way out or cheating somehow. I  am sure that it will be great and will be able to make some afghans and larger sweaters pretty fast but still.... The weather is supposed to be gross and wintery this weekend so I will sit inside and watch the video for the machine and see what's going on with it. And I will knit by hand. I am making myself a hat since everyone seems to like theirs. I bought some Lion Brand Colorwaves and it looks pretty cute. And so soft. Someone will probably want that one also so hopefully I will be able to get 2 hats out of it.

Finished objects!

Whew! I needed to knit a hat for my aunt and couldn't find just the right pattern--either the gauge wasn't right or the needles didn't really work with the yarn--and so on and so on. She asked for a hat and I didn't want to say no but man, it was annoying to try and find a pattern. I finally found one for a rolled brim hat that knitted up quite nicely. I bought a knitting pattern for a day calendar at Sam's and decided to look through it...yes, I know....cheat,cheat. But,ha ha, I found this pattern so it all worked out well.  And I have made 3 hats this weekend. I know I should be working on Ad.'s sweater but I really felt I needed to do this hat. The nice thing is that I used up some yarn "bits" I had lying around and that is always good. 'Cause now I can fit more yarn into my stash. See, always thinking ahead. Plus, I just won some yarn on ebay-Water Lilly Boucle Novelty yarn that should make a cute vest. And I bought some Lion Brand Homespun for a cardigan. Now I just have to decide which cardigan to knit first.

I would like to knit somemore tonight but my wrist is a little sore and I don't want to "make it mad." lol. I have a pinky finger on my left hand that is out of place and I need to have the chiropractor put it back into place. Sometimes I can work it back in but this time...not so much. But I'm sure it will be better by tomorrow so I can work on the sweater and get it finished. I'm going to try and get it all done this week so I can do something for me.

Brrrr! Good knitting weather

Just got back from knitting group tonight. I had to make note of all the questions I had to ask as tonight was the last meeting until January. Since I am knitting furiously on Ad.'s sweater I needed to make sure that I understood the directions. I must have it finished in time for Christmas which I'm sure that I will. About halfway through any project I always have this awful feeling that I don't have enough yarn. Never mind that I bought plenty, in fact I usually overbuy for just that reason. I know that I have enough but there is always that unrational fear. So I'm off to knit some more as it is getting very cold and is good knitting weather.

I lost my post!

Here is a picture of the little vest that I made for K. I took the sweater pattern that I made her and just left off the sleeves and the ties. I think it's cute and she will like it. I had a whole post yesterday and it wouldn't go through...grrr!

I knitted all day on Tuesday since we stayed home due to all the tornado watches that were out. I also got to knit alot yesterday and am almost finished with the back of Ad.'s sweater. I will be glad to get it done.

I started a new project (gasp). lol. I am making a vest out of Homespun. It is all garter stitch so it will be a good, mindless knitting that I can work on in the car (only riding, thank you!) and watching tv. The color is Harvest and I can't wait to wear it.

PICTURES!!

Okay, A. took some digital photos of K's cardigan and my scarf that I made to match my sweater. Woohoo! I am making a vest for K. from the same pattern but without the sleeves. You can see how it looks by looking at the above photo that we took with the sleeves tucked behind it. I am knitting it in the Caron one pound (as it is for a kid) in rose. So far it's looking pretty good. K. really liked the cardigan, although it is very thick since I doubled the yarn. It is more like a little coat but that's okay because she'll stay warm.

It's a sweater!

Well, I put together the back and the front panels of the cardigan today. I could've finished it by now if I hadn't had been so lazy and just sat in a chair and basically stared at the wall. I will put it together and finish the I-cords tonight. I think it will also look really cute as a little vest so I got some pink yarn...well, it's more of a rose color... and am going to make another sweater and haven't decided what color vest to make. She really likes red but her mom doesn't so unfortunately K. doesn't get to wear much red. If anyone wants to see a picture of the cardigan it is in the spring issue of Knit It! on page 102. It is called the sassy-stripe cardigan but I knit it a varigated yarn of blues, mauves, creams and tan. It knit up very pretty even though I hate the yarn. And I put a fluffy blue collar on it. It was a yarn that I got on clearance from Big Lots and it's from Australia. Looks great with the yarn.

Almost finished

As soon as I am done on here I am off to finish K.'s cardigan. I do like knitting for kids as I can finish it much sooner. I would have put something in here earlier but I have been chased around the house by the new Patternworks and KnitPicks catalogs that have insidiously wormed their way in here. They follow me around, whispering...look, look at what we have for you. You know you want me...buy me, take me home and love me. I run but I can't hide because they know me too well. So I succombed and am going to order a few things. Just to shut them up you know. They will just keep after me until they get what they want. It's just easier to give in. Plus, then I will have all this new stuff to fondle and read. lol

A little knitting, a little tea...

I had some kind of nasty sinus "yuck" this week and didn't get alot of knitting (or anything else) done. I mostly slept and then slept some more. I did manage to get to knitting group on Tuesday which was very helpful. June showed me how to fix the pockets on my cardigan and I can't wait to get them right. I think then I will be very happy with it. Working on K.'s cardigan and hopefully I will have that finished by next week. Plus I worked on C.'s poncho .............groan........... I want to have that stupid thing finished so it's out of my hands. It's one of the rectangle ponchos so if nothing else it is mindless knitting. If I can get one piece done I will breathe a sigh of relief. She has to buy more of the yarn-Modea Dea's Dream in black and she has been buying one ball at a time since it's $6.99 a ball. I don't mind as it's that much longer that I don't have to work on it.

Little cardigan.

Well, I have gotten the back done on K.'s cardigan. I do like doing knitting for kids as it gets finished really fast. I think I can have it finished by this weekend. Knitting group tomorrow night  which is good 'cause I have several questions. I do hate the yarn that m. picked for the cardigan. It's the same one that I used for her poncho but I doubled it so it will be good and warm. It looks nice but it bad on my hands as it makes them really, really dry.

The A.A.S. group lost our meeting location now and we have to find somewhere else to have our art meetings. We are meeting next month at Starbuck's and then will have A.'s birthday dinner still. Hopefully we will find a new place soon.

Tiny the cardigan

Well, I finished the cardigan last night and wore it today for it's inaugural showing. It is much better with the placket attached. I made the placket much wider...12 stitches instead of 6...and it is just the right width. The only thing I don't really like are the pockets. If I had it to do over again I would leave the pockets off. I think I have enough yarn to make a matching scarf with some very nifty fun fur shot through it. It was finished just in time as today was the first really chilly, rainy day. It was good and warm. I started on K.'s sweater today and worked on it while we were sitting at Panera. It was a good soup day so we had lunch and I got to knit for awhile.

Monday, October 17, 2005

OH YEAH!

Oh happy, happy, happy dancing!! Yes, if you guessed that the poncho is finished you would be correct. I am sooooooooooooo glad to be finished. And A. really liked it. I don't want to see it any time soon. I worked on the cardigan today and am almost finished that. Woohoo. Then I shall work on Ad.'s sweater and C.'s poncho, and K.'s sweater. Then something else for me. Luckily, K. is little so that one shouldn't take too long.

More cool books

I didn't get much knitting done today but the glass block windows are all in now. Just sitting and waiting for the guy to come took most of the day. but I got to look through some of my new books. Would you care to know what I bought?

Knitting Yarns and Spinning Tales

Yarn Harlot

Knit Lit the Third

The Knitting Experience:Book 3 Color by Sally Melville

So I will knit tomorrow and get the third panel of &*%$%&()&%$$$# poncho done. And I plan on having the whole thing finished by the end of the weekend. Yah for me.

Whatever happened to the cardigan

Well, you may ask me...what ever happened to that cardigan that you were working on not too long ago? That's a very good question and here's the answer. I have all of it put together and am attaching the  placket (it's a knit it as you attach it) but have put it aside to work on the never-ending poncho. There is good news on that front though. I am working on the 3rd panel now and have sewn the other two panels together. Soon,oh so soon it will be done and off the needles and away from me FOREVER!!!haahahahahhahahaha. Oh sorry, got a little overly excited there.

Got my order from Knitpicks Saturday. Two balls of Wool of the Andes in Ironore. I am planning on making the "potato chip" scarf for A. for Christmas. It will go well with the&^^&$##%(*&^& poncho. Also got  The Opionated Knitter by Elizabeth Zimmerman and another book that I cannot remember the name but will look and get it in here soon. Guess I will go and work on the poncho.

Conquering the poncho

Have gotten 1 panel finished and almost half of the second finished. I think that it won't take as long as I had originally planned. I would like to have it finished for A. by next week as we might actually have some fall weather. Then m.can have hers since A. is giving up the old one. Worked on it some last night at Starbucks but was busy talking and laughing with Mert and Cindy so I didn't get that much done. But got quite alot done today.

Went to JoAnne's Fabric today and found some very interesting boucle yarn that was their own brand. A huge amount...over 800 yards for $7.99 and a beautiful fall color...orange, browns, reds, a lovely subtle varigated yarn for a sweater. I have a pattern for a tunic-type sweater that I ordered from www.Patternworks.com that should look quite nice. Just have to decide whether to have it be single or double strand. Guess I will have to do a swatch for both. But it will be awhile before I can do something else for me as all the projects are PILING up. C. has bought some more skeins of the Moda Dea Dreams for her poncho so I suppose I should work some on that. <groan>

Am reading a very interesting book...No Idle Hands, A social history of knitting in America. Very informative and interesting.

The yarn store invites

Went to the new yarn store yesterday. They had some nice yarns but not alot of books and no cream or white yarn which I thought was very odd to say the least. But I did find a few skeins that I will have to go back and get next week. Went to Hobby Lobby and got some Bernat for a sweater for me and to Michael's for some Homespun for a vest for A. Of course, I must first finish the stupid poncho. But, I am almost finished with the first panel. And only 3 more to go.woohoo.

Sunday, September 25, 2005

OH NO!! GGGGGGGGGGRRRRRRRRRR!!

Man!! I am irritated. I have knit and knit and knit on "Tiny" my cardigan and I have it all put together except the placket. So I tried it on and I am not happy. It fits but does not look good. I am not going to put it on again until the placket is sewn on as I am hoping that it will pull it all together and it will look better. If not I shall have to find a new home for it.GGGGGGGGGGGGRRRRRRRRRRRR.

I did start on the "Oh No,not again" poncho and have a good bit of it finished. I will not be able to work on it tonight because of the A.A.S. meeting and then tomorrow the stupid Stampin' Up party that C. wanted to throw for some stuff. NOT my kind of thing at all but I told her that I would so that is that. Hopefully the few that I invited will come as they like the S.U. stamps. Then knitting group on Tuesday which is always fun as it meets in the library and I can get my book fill first and then my knitting help. Also I like to get books on tape for when I am knitting. Hopefully there will be some good ones there.

Thursday, September 22, 2005

I could wear it if...

I could wear my almost completed cardigan (major happy dancing!!) if it would only cool down. Of course it will have to cool down alot for me to even put on long sleeves much less a sweater. I am excited that it will be done by tomorrow but I am not so happy that it is time to do THAT poncho again. I've decided that instead of calling it cupcake, which is what we were calling it at the knitting group, I am going to call it Oh No, Not Again!. Hopefully it shouldn't take me too long as I can probably knit it from memory and in my sleep. And then Ad.'s sweater and "the carrier's" cardigan. It's a good thing she's small so it won't take very long. I keep getting more and more added onto the "please, will you knit me this?'' pile. Oh sure, why not. I don't have anything to do....haahahahahaha.

Friday, September 16, 2005

oops...new yarn shop alert!

A new yarn shop is opening up down the street. I do okay by not going into any because most of them are not so close. But this one....it will be so close that I will hear it calling me. I will have to put in earplugs now.

We finally had some rain today. Actually it poured but it was ssssssssssssooooooo nice and it smelled so good while it was raining. A.,m. and I went to the Indian buffet around the corner and it was delicious. Much better than the one we usually go to and boy, did we eat. Love that hot naan bread now!

I am going to start decreasing on the sleeves now ( I call the sweater "Tiny'') and maybe after "tc" goes home tomorrow I will finish it. She and m. are having a sleepover tonight. But she is always tagging after me. She wants to learn to knit but the last time we attempted that she poked me with the needles and after the second time we were DONE. I'm thinking that she will have to be just a little older. I did teach her to needlepoint but it's slow going. If I have to be honest I am jealous of my time and don't want to have to take time off my knitting to watch her. At least a little. Plus, she always wants to work on what I'm doing instead of hers. I think we will have to have rules.

Also...a great knitting dvd--The Art of Knitting. www.TheArtofKnitting.com

It is very good and I already have learned a few things from it. I am probably going to order it and the second one also.

It's looking like a sweater!

Went to Waynesville today for lunch at Der Dutchman. Yummy salad bar. And the extra good thing was I got the ribbing done on my sleeves for the cardigan. Minor happy dancing all around. If only we weren't babysitting "t.c." tomorrow I could probably get the sleeves finished. At least it isn't the same color as A.'s poncho!! I will not knit with that color AGAIN! Sure, I say that now but you know that if she asked for something else in that color that I would do it. Because I want her to be happy. I want anything that I knit or cross-stitch for someone to be just what they want and for them to be happy.

I see some of the oddest patterns that are published and I would never make them but to each his own. As long as I don't have to put my name on it, it's all good.

Monday, September 12, 2005

Knitting

I am almost finished with the second pocket lining. A few more rows and ta-dah! It will be done and I can sew them together. I shall cast on the sleeves and finish it all this week. I was going to knit tonight but gave a bunch of my cards to my Starbucks baristas and some to a friend of m.'s in Denmark. So my card stash is low and must fill them up. I haven't sent in anything to be published in a while so maybe I will do somethings for submission.

I also have to work on C's journal for the color swap. I want to do something different for hers but haven't decided what yet. Plus it has to be purple. Not my best color to work with.

Knitting pockets

So, the other night I'm KIP at Starbucks and I did a pocket for the first time. I put the stitches on a stitch holder and then went ahead with the pattern and picked up stitches in the next row to continue. I was so proud that I held it up for m. and A. to see as I stuck my mouth through it and made it "talk". I didn't realize at the time there was a woman standing behind me fixing her coffee and watching me. OOPS! How fortunate was it that she was a knitter and completely understood. Only a little embarrassed.lol

Finished the other front of my cardigan...mini happy dance! Just the sleeves, pockets, and placket to go. The end is in sight and I'm excited.

On the Caribou Coffee front. They did respond to my email and sent me a coupon for a free drink. Gee, could they afford it. Either send one for several drinks or nothing at all. Well, it will be a drink for A. Going to knit for a while.

I am annoyed at UPS. Gee, what a surprise. They were supposed to deliver my shoes today. I was here until 7:00 tonight and nothing. I even had a note on the door telling them that I was here and just ring the bell. Nothing. So I get online to track the package and it says they tried to deliver it at 5:34 pm. Um, no I don't think so. If they don't come that's one thing but don't say they tried to deliver it when I was here sitting in the kitchen. Why, why do they always do that?

I did get almost all the front of the cardigan done. Two more inches and I can start on the sleeves. The knitting group meets tomorrow at the library so I may go down for awhile. I have a few questions about the sweater pattern for A.

I'll be glad for fall

Zappos.com - Dr. Martens 9A58  These are the shoes that I just ordered. Too cute. I have the flowered boots but sometimes it is too hot for boots. Unfortunately they are a Christmas present so I'll bet I have to wait until then for them.

I'll be glad when fall is here. It has been just so hot and disgusting this year. Plus the hot flashes just make it worse. On the up side, my cardigan is going along great. I'm almost finished with the other front and then just have the sleeves and the placket. Woohoo. I got alot knitted today as m.,A.and I drove to Sugarcreek to see if there might be a Quaker parrot there for A. She misses her bird so much that we knew she had to have another one. She found one...what a surprise...and they are very happy together. I, on the other hand, stayed in the car as birds and I...not so much. But the knitting was good, there was shade, a lovely breeze and some water, so it was all good. Now that the cardigan is almost finished I suppose I must start on the PONCHO. Ugh! Well, the sooner it's started, the sooner is finished.

I can't wait for the tea I ordered from Harneys to get here.Harney and Sons Fine Tea is Your Source for Green, Black, Oolong, White Teas, Herbals, and Tea Gifts it's the best tea. The tropical green and the White Christmas are fabulous. As well as the Cranberry Autumn. Yum. I think I shall go make a pot of tea.

Uck! What a day

A.came over today and put in a new toilet for us. Well, sort of ...it's in and working but it is leaking somewhat. He gets all irritated but then he tells us that he's only put in a toilet under supervision. Oh great! When we asked him he said "oh,sure, no problem." See, that's the problem. Never should have believed him.

Got the new Patternworks catalog today. OOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHh all kinds of new things calling me to take them home and love them. Sure they act all innocent and cute and cuddly in the store but when you get them home they're all like...use me, you never look at me...I  am lonely, you know you want to, come on everyone else is using us. Oh the voices. Bad, bad fibers.

More things to do

A WOOL GATHERING oooohhh, oooohhh, oooohhh, I want to go! It's not terribly far away from here so maybe we can go. Oh sure, like I need to go and see some more kinds of yarn and yarn accessories...lol. I bet I can go and maybe not buy anything or not much. A. said that she would like to go. I think it was seeing the llamas that got her. I did teach her to knit (against her wishes) but she is enjoying it. Just a garter stitch scarf on big needles but she is doing well. I worked on the other front of my cardigan last night. It's moving right along as I got 10'' done last night.

Here's the annoying thing though: why is it you can measure something and it comes out to be 12" so you knit and knit and knit and then measure again and it's still 12''. So you sigh and knit, knit, knit and then..... still 12". Where does all the knitting go? Is it the knitting black hole? I don't get it at all.

Sunday, September 4, 2005

Well, I sent

an email to Caribou Coffee about their rude employees. Let's see if they answer. I go to Starbucks 2 or 3 times a week and have "art" night there on Monday nights where I've brought other people in (who also buy coffee and pastries) so it's not like we are freeloaders. I would've liked to have another place to go and hang out and knit and journal but sometimes they just make us feel really unwelcome. Starbucks just doesn't care as long as we put the tables and chairs back where we found them.  If the zine were still being published I would've have definately written about that in my article. I think it's unbearably rude to turn off the lights and lock the doors of a business without telling the customers sitting there that it is closing time. HHHHHHHmmmmm let me get out my crystal ball and see if I can tell that ....nope, nothing.

On the knitting front, much happy dancing as I finished the right front of my cardigan last night. As is the case many times it was much easier than I had it built up in my knitting mind. I think the end is eventually in sight. And there will be much rejoicing...woohoo! But more than that...lol..and with confetti.

Time for knitting

Well, it's knitting time. Did manage to get a little done in the car while A. was delivering a catering order but had to stop when she wouldn't stop talking and I had to count. lol. Getting ready to finish the front left side of the cardigan...A. helped me through the pattern to make sure that I had all the annoying decreases correct. The math is the only thing that I hate about knitting. 'Cause I be hating the math. The cardigan should be worth it. If anyone wants to look at it (sorry, no digital camera) it is in the spring/summer issue of Knit1 on page 47. I'm using a wonderful color called Coral Gables that is a mixture of pinks, oranges, yellows and just a wonderful texture. I do like Homespun as it knits up quite nicely.

If it would only knit up by itself. I could get alot more finished that way. I do like knitting but sometimes it's overwhelming. I think the yarn stash is slowly creeping down the hall to jump out and bury me unawares one day when I am walking by. I hear it..."use us...knit me now....you know you want to...here we are..." I think I'm knitting too much. I think I shall have a nice cup of tea and watch my shows on PBS tonight. I do, however, want to dye my wool yarn that I bought. I specifically bought the white so I can use Kool-Aid. The hardest part is deciding what color. I'm leaning toward lemon-lime and cherry.

It's a Holiday

But you have to sing the title so it makes sense. Well, maybe only to my family. Another lllllllllllloooooooooooooonnnnnnnnnnnnnnngggggggg holiday weekend ahead. The good news is that I have SO much knitting to keep me busy that I certainly won't be bored. The bad news is that I have not felt like stamping and doing any art for quite awhile. I need to work on the color journal round robin that the group is doing so maybe I'll get that out of the way.

Now m. wants me to knit some cute little cardigans for "the carrier" so she can have them for school. Oh sure! I have so much time to do that. As well as my eight other hands that I use for knitting and crocheting. Why not? I still have to crochet an afgan for Pastor James that I really should get to first but I think I will start it and can work on it when I need a mindless piece to work. Maybe we will have a nice Starbucks trip this weekend. Not like I don't go every week for "art night". But it's nice to just go and sit and not have to entertain anyone. Just me, my journal and my knitting. Ah, quiet....sounds so nice. We will see.

I forgot....

the most important part of my previous post. She wants it in the same color. That's right..the SAME color. I could have handled the same stupid pattern AGAIN if she had just picked another color. M. wants the old one so she bought the yarn today; there is no way around it. I have to knit it....sigh.

Oh NO! Not again!

First let me thank the people who have left such nice comments. I guess I didn't actually think that anyone would be interested in reading this blog so... am red-faced at the moment. Thank you. :)

Now,the annoying part. THE PONCHO THAT WILL NOT DIE!!!!!!!!!! AAAAGGGGGHHHHHH!! Whew, that's out of my system. Am. had said all along that the Coming Home poncho (which we were calling the cupcake but now is the annoying) was just not long enough. I finally got her to understand that I was not experienced enough to alter the pattern to make it longer but I would make her another poncho of some other pattern if she could find one that she liked. Of course, the pattern that she likes IS THE SAME ONE. Now they have it in plus sizes so guess what I'll be working on? That's right...the one I swore that I'd never do again. The things one will do for family. Someone owes me a Starbucks. And not a small one either. A venti. And more than one. Okay, I am calm, I am calm, I am calm. I shall go and knit on A.'s sweater so when he gets home tomorrow he can see how the pattern will look. Then it goes away for awhile so I can work on my cardigan.  And watch the knitting dvd that I got from the library.  Learn to knit with Laura*Jean. Looked like it might be interesting so we will see.  I am going to go to her website www.freshbakedgoods.com and take a look.

Just a day

Just kind of one of those days. Went to Borders while A. and m. went to Sam's Club. I got the new Belle Amoire and looked at some knitting magazines. I do want to get TKGA's magazine as it has a really great "coat"  that would be good. And it's made out of the Red Heart Light and Lofty so it would be very "fiber-y".

Took my knitting to art night tonight...gasp! what a surprise. lol. Worked on A.'s sweater. The pattern is coming right along and I think he is going to be happy. If not, a new sweater for moi. Had the A.A.S. meeting last night. I wish we could get more people to join so it can grow but I suppose it will have to do for now. I know I tell alot of people but if Patty would advertise it we might get more. Maybe we will have more people when we start at A.'s in October.

Will probably get alot done tomorrow if we get the rain that is forecast. Of course, with the styrene leak here who really wants to go anywhere. Especially since they think it will explode. Then we shall all stay inside.

Yarn stash.

Started A.'s sweater today. Had to go down a size for each needle in the swatch but I think it's going to look quite nice. I hope he likes it. I may have to make myself one also.

Here's what I got at Lambikin's Hideaway yesterday. Cascade Yarns 100% Peruvian Highland Wool that I am going to dye with Kool-aid.

Plymouth Yarn Encore Colors worsted weight that is a great varigated color with a twist.

Plymouth Yarn Yukon Print that is a great mix of pinks and oranges that look like dreadlocks.

Noro (www.eisakunoro.com) wool in a lovely woody color that has everything from dark green to yellow and orange.

Reynolds Yarn Smile in pinks, greens, yellows. A nice thick yarn.

And, last but not least, a lovely Italian yarn by GGH (www.ggh-garn.com) that is all kinds of fibers and fall colors that has a fabulous texture, very thick and thin.

I am going to knit up squares and make Am. a purse and myself a vest with lots of different textures and yarns. They should be amazing.

Oh Yeah!!

It's finished,it's finished,it's finished!!! The poncho is no more on the needles. I am ever so glad. I did find that I should not knit the neck in the round because the circulars did not want to fit. We went to Caribou Coffee last night and met with D-bo and they are just not as friendly as the baristas at Starbucks. They actually turned off the lights while A. was sitting there. Didn't even know why at first as they didn't say anything...like,we're closed or closing or anything like that.

On the upside, today we went to Lambikin's Hideaway in Hamilton. And got some yarn loot. I will have to put the kinds on tomorrow as the dog we are dogsitting is now looking like he wants to go out.

Oh yeah!

It's almost finished...woohoo...the poncho that never ends. Halfway through the 4th panel and I WILL finish it today. Then I can work on my cardigan. Finally.

Sunday, August 21, 2005

Woohoo!

Happy dancing all around!! The second panel of the poncho is finished and the two pieces are sewn together.  I already started the third panel and plan on having the whole stupid thing done in the next couple of days.  It has been so hot and humid that we have just been staying at home during the day so I could knit and knit. I shall work on it tomorow night at art night and get it done. Keep your fingers crossed.

Finally!

Finally! I am on the second panel of the stupid poncho. I am going to get it done this week. Period. Then, no more of that pattern. At least not this year. Sick, sick, sick of it.

Got my copy of  "Socks Soar on Circular Needles" the other day. Looks like it will be easier than double-pointed needles. I think it be will fun 'cause I really like circulars. Still want to go and buy some very interesting yarn soon.

Sure I am.

You appear to be a Knitting Guru. You love knitting and do it all the time. While finishing a piece is the plan, you still love the process, and can't imagine a day going by without giving some time to your yarn. Packing for vacation involves leaving ample space for the stash and supplies. It can be hard to tell where the yarn ends and you begin.
The above is a quiz from Quizilla. What kind of knitter are you? Not hardly. But it's funny to think. I think I finally got the stupid poncho all figured out. Stuck that puppy on size 13 needles (why aren't there size 12's?) and it seems to look like it is working correctly. (Keep your fingers crossed.)

Unfortunately I couldn't make A.'s sweater with the yarn we had picked out. I didn't look at it and it is wool and dry clean only. NOT! But I found the yarn that I bought at the mill is pretty close to the color he wanted and it is acrylic. So we have a winner. Ordered the pattern today and hopefully will have the poncho finished by the time it gets here. Maybe even will have a dent made in my cardigan. Knitting group meets Tuesday night so I will be there with some questions. What else? I'm sure they are surprised when I come and don't have any questions or need any help. lol.

gggggggggggggrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!

I am ever so annoyed! The stupid, stupid poncho. I knew it wasn't going to be the right gauge but had to knit the first panel anyway. Well,of course it wasn't right, the whole thing was about half the size of mine. So rip it out I did. The extra annoying part was I had to do it after spending 4 hours with this new computer tower with A. She and I had to work through all the software and the firewall and #$%$###@^%#. Anyway, now everything seems to be working fine so tomorrow maybe I'll get some knitting done.

another night

Kind of disappointed today. Went to S.Y.A.O. for some demos before Stampaway. Usually I learn alot of new things and get some ideas but not this year. I didn't think they really had anything too interesting . Although Nancy Curry is having one on Sunday. I don't think I'll be able to get over there though. I hope Stampaway isn't a disappointment. Probably not though.

On the knitting front: On the second piece of the poncho but I'm still worried that it is too short. I'm going to measure it against mine and if it's too short I will tear it out and start again. Not like that's anything new.

today

Can't believe that Ad. wants me to knit him a sweater. I asked him last night and he actually said yes. I felt really bad as I've knitted something for everyone else and it just didn't dawn on me that he would want something. I will order the yarn in the next few days...a pretty wool yarn called Andes Wool of the World from KnitPicks. In a green color called fern. I would have never picked that color for him.

On the poncho front I knitted on it last night at Caribou and on the way to the chiropractor this morning. It's looking pretty good.

About halfway through the first section of the annoying poncho, which probably wouldn't be so annoying if m. wouldn't keep saying,"is it done yet?'' Like she can even wear it now in the heat. Did I mention how hot it is? Yuck. I used to love the heat but not anymore. I definately can sympathize now with people who complain about it all the time.

Just one of those days

Went down to see the Shakespeare group last night. We had a good time and the play was enjoyable. Hot out but at least there was a nice breeze. I started knitting on the annoying poncho and actually it worked alot better than I thought it would and already have the first part of the pattern done. I'm glad to see that it looks good.

Actually I not be knitting

See,if I'm sitting here then I'm not knitting. I would like to able to work the keyboard with my toes and be able to knit all at the same time. I have to start m's poncho and I'm sick of that pattern. I should have done hers before mine so I wouldn't dread it so much. I think that it's the yarn switch as well. Not at all sure that it's going to work the same way . But I will NEVER admit it. Will not do another of those stupid Coming Home ponchos again. Especially since I had to frog A's 3 times before I finally got the pattern correct. Geeze! what a git. On the up side, the "sweater that never ends" is finally looking like it might actually end. I will not knit such a long cardigan for some time. I think that I will go and knit some now.
