I forgot....

the most important part of my previous post. She wants it in the same color. That's right..the SAME color. I could have handled the same stupid pattern AGAIN if she had just picked another color. M. wants the old one so she bought the yarn today; there is no way around it. I have to knit it....sigh.

Oh NO! Not again!

First let me thank the people who have left such nice comments. I guess I didn't actually think that anyone would be interested in reading this blog so... am red-faced at the moment. Thank you. :)

Now,the annoying part. THE PONCHO THAT WILL NOT DIE!!!!!!!!!! AAAAGGGGGHHHHHH!! Whew, that's out of my system. Am. had said all along that the Coming Home poncho (which we were calling the cupcake but now is the annoying) was just not long enough. I finally got her to understand that I was not experienced enough to alter the pattern to make it longer but I would make her another poncho of some other pattern if she could find one that she liked. Of course, the pattern that she likes IS THE SAME ONE. Now they have it in plus sizes so guess what I'll be working on? That's right...the one I swore that I'd never do again. The things one will do for family. Someone owes me a Starbucks. And not a small one either. A venti. And more than one. Okay, I am calm, I am calm, I am calm. I shall go and knit on A.'s sweater so when he gets home tomorrow he can see how the pattern will look. Then it goes away for awhile so I can work on my cardigan.  And watch the knitting dvd that I got from the library.  Learn to knit with Laura*Jean. Looked like it might be interesting so we will see.  I am going to go to her website www.freshbakedgoods.com and take a look.

Just a day

Just kind of one of those days. Went to Borders while A. and m. went to Sam's Club. I got the new Belle Amoire and looked at some knitting magazines. I do want to get TKGA's magazine as it has a really great "coat"  that would be good. And it's made out of the Red Heart Light and Lofty so it would be very "fiber-y".

Took my knitting to art night tonight...gasp! what a surprise. lol. Worked on A.'s sweater. The pattern is coming right along and I think he is going to be happy. If not, a new sweater for moi. Had the A.A.S. meeting last night. I wish we could get more people to join so it can grow but I suppose it will have to do for now. I know I tell alot of people but if Patty would advertise it we might get more. Maybe we will have more people when we start at A.'s in October.

Will probably get alot done tomorrow if we get the rain that is forecast. Of course, with the styrene leak here who really wants to go anywhere. Especially since they think it will explode. Then we shall all stay inside.

Yarn stash.

Started A.'s sweater today. Had to go down a size for each needle in the swatch but I think it's going to look quite nice. I hope he likes it. I may have to make myself one also.

Here's what I got at Lambikin's Hideaway yesterday. Cascade Yarns 100% Peruvian Highland Wool that I am going to dye with Kool-aid.

Plymouth Yarn Encore Colors worsted weight that is a great varigated color with a twist.

Plymouth Yarn Yukon Print that is a great mix of pinks and oranges that look like dreadlocks.

Noro (www.eisakunoro.com) wool in a lovely woody color that has everything from dark green to yellow and orange.

Reynolds Yarn Smile in pinks, greens, yellows. A nice thick yarn.

And, last but not least, a lovely Italian yarn by GGH (www.ggh-garn.com) that is all kinds of fibers and fall colors that has a fabulous texture, very thick and thin.

I am going to knit up squares and make Am. a purse and myself a vest with lots of different textures and yarns. They should be amazing.

Oh Yeah!!

It's finished,it's finished,it's finished!!! The poncho is no more on the needles. I am ever so glad. I did find that I should not knit the neck in the round because the circulars did not want to fit. We went to Caribou Coffee last night and met with D-bo and they are just not as friendly as the baristas at Starbucks. They actually turned off the lights while A. was sitting there. Didn't even know why at first as they didn't say anything...like,we're closed or closing or anything like that.

On the upside, today we went to Lambikin's Hideaway in Hamilton. And got some yarn loot. I will have to put the kinds on tomorrow as the dog we are dogsitting is now looking like he wants to go out.

Oh yeah!

It's almost finished...woohoo...the poncho that never ends. Halfway through the 4th panel and I WILL finish it today. Then I can work on my cardigan. Finally.

Sunday, August 21, 2005

Woohoo!

Happy dancing all around!! The second panel of the poncho is finished and the two pieces are sewn together.  I already started the third panel and plan on having the whole stupid thing done in the next couple of days.  It has been so hot and humid that we have just been staying at home during the day so I could knit and knit. I shall work on it tomorow night at art night and get it done. Keep your fingers crossed.

Finally!

Finally! I am on the second panel of the stupid poncho. I am going to get it done this week. Period. Then, no more of that pattern. At least not this year. Sick, sick, sick of it.

Got my copy of  "Socks Soar on Circular Needles" the other day. Looks like it will be easier than double-pointed needles. I think it be will fun 'cause I really like circulars. Still want to go and buy some very interesting yarn soon.

Sure I am.

You appear to be a Knitting Guru. You love knitting and do it all the time. While finishing a piece is the plan, you still love the process, and can't imagine a day going by without giving some time to your yarn. Packing for vacation involves leaving ample space for the stash and supplies. It can be hard to tell where the yarn ends and you begin.
The above is a quiz from Quizilla. What kind of knitter are you? Not hardly. But it's funny to think. I think I finally got the stupid poncho all figured out. Stuck that puppy on size 13 needles (why aren't there size 12's?) and it seems to look like it is working correctly. (Keep your fingers crossed.)

Unfortunately I couldn't make A.'s sweater with the yarn we had picked out. I didn't look at it and it is wool and dry clean only. NOT! But I found the yarn that I bought at the mill is pretty close to the color he wanted and it is acrylic. So we have a winner. Ordered the pattern today and hopefully will have the poncho finished by the time it gets here. Maybe even will have a dent made in my cardigan. Knitting group meets Tuesday night so I will be there with some questions. What else? I'm sure they are surprised when I come and don't have any questions or need any help. lol.

gggggggggggggrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!

I am ever so annoyed! The stupid, stupid poncho. I knew it wasn't going to be the right gauge but had to knit the first panel anyway. Well,of course it wasn't right, the whole thing was about half the size of mine. So rip it out I did. The extra annoying part was I had to do it after spending 4 hours with this new computer tower with A. She and I had to work through all the software and the firewall and #$%$###@^%#. Anyway, now everything seems to be working fine so tomorrow maybe I'll get some knitting done.

another night

Kind of disappointed today. Went to S.Y.A.O. for some demos before Stampaway. Usually I learn alot of new things and get some ideas but not this year. I didn't think they really had anything too interesting . Although Nancy Curry is having one on Sunday. I don't think I'll be able to get over there though. I hope Stampaway isn't a disappointment. Probably not though.

On the knitting front: On the second piece of the poncho but I'm still worried that it is too short. I'm going to measure it against mine and if it's too short I will tear it out and start again. Not like that's anything new.

today

Can't believe that Ad. wants me to knit him a sweater. I asked him last night and he actually said yes. I felt really bad as I've knitted something for everyone else and it just didn't dawn on me that he would want something. I will order the yarn in the next few days...a pretty wool yarn called Andes Wool of the World from KnitPicks. In a green color called fern. I would have never picked that color for him.

On the poncho front I knitted on it last night at Caribou and on the way to the chiropractor this morning. It's looking pretty good.

About halfway through the first section of the annoying poncho, which probably wouldn't be so annoying if m. wouldn't keep saying,"is it done yet?'' Like she can even wear it now in the heat. Did I mention how hot it is? Yuck. I used to love the heat but not anymore. I definately can sympathize now with people who complain about it all the time.

Just one of those days

Went down to see the Shakespeare group last night. We had a good time and the play was enjoyable. Hot out but at least there was a nice breeze. I started knitting on the annoying poncho and actually it worked alot better than I thought it would and already have the first part of the pattern done. I'm glad to see that it looks good.

Actually I not be knitting

See,if I'm sitting here then I'm not knitting. I would like to able to work the keyboard with my toes and be able to knit all at the same time. I have to start m's poncho and I'm sick of that pattern. I should have done hers before mine so I wouldn't dread it so much. I think that it's the yarn switch as well. Not at all sure that it's going to work the same way . But I will NEVER admit it. Will not do another of those stupid Coming Home ponchos again. Especially since I had to frog A's 3 times before I finally got the pattern correct. Geeze! what a git. On the up side, the "sweater that never ends" is finally looking like it might actually end. I will not knit such a long cardigan for some time. I think that I will go and knit some now.
